Renderoc® LA60

Renderoc® LA60 is a material designed for the restoration of reinforced concrete structures in cases where low permeability and high compressive strength are required.

Alkali-silica reaction

Cement creates an alkaline environment in concrete. Fillers such as sand or gravel can react with this alkaline environment, forming a gel. The gel, in turn, absorbs water, expands, creating stress in the concrete and leading to cracks. As a result, the protective capacity of the concrete decreases, and moisture, chlorides, and carbon dioxide begin to penetrate through the cracks, leading to corrosion of the reinforcement and consequently even greater deterioration of the concrete. The Renderoc® LA 60 material has low alkali content, making it an excellent choice where alkali-silica reaction damage occurs. Also, due to its low permeability, the material is suitable where excellent resistance to chlorides and carbon dioxide is required.

Risk of thermal cracking. The composition has controlled heat release during hydration, minimizing the risk of thermal cracks.

Material Features

Renderoc® LA60 is made from specially selected hydraulic cements, graded aggregates, and modifying additives that provide controlled expansion in both plastic and hardened states while reducing the need for water. To prepare the mixture on the construction site, only clean water needs to be added. Due to controlled heat release during hydration, Renderoc® LA60 can typically be applied at layer thicknesses from 25 to 300 mm with minimal risk of thermal cracking. The material contains no chlorides, has an alkaline environment, and provides protection for steel reinforcement.

Specification Requirements

Repair concrete must be Renderoc® LA60, a one-component micro-concrete that meets the requirements of BS EN 1504-3, class R4, suitable for thicknesses from 25 mm to 300 mm in total. The micro-concrete must demonstrate a compressive strength of at least 30 MPa after 3 days and a compressive strength of 60 MPa after 28 days (at 20°C).
