Nitoflor DPM

Nitoflor DPM is a material that allows for early installation of vinyl, carpet, and resin-based materials without adhering to the usual drying period.

Absence or ineffectiveness of the primary waterproofing membrane

The absence or ineffectiveness of the primary (damp-proof) waterproofing membrane under the concrete slab or screed is a common problem, as it allows groundwater to rise through capillaries, creating chronic moisture. This situation is often encountered in older houses, where the technologies for waterproofing floors on the ground or basement ceilings were often primitive (only a layer of felt, bitumen, or even none at all were used); also in private houses or cottages built independently, due to ignorance of all building standards; industrial facilities from the Soviet period, such as old warehouses, workshops, and hangars, where the floor was made of simple unreinforced concrete poured directly onto the ground. Alternatively, the primary membrane may become ineffective due to mechanical damage, such as ground movement, building shrinkage, or due to aging materials or aggressive environments, such as chemical corrosion from soil salts. It is for such situations, where it is impossible to dismantle the floor and redo the waterproofing from below, that surface materials like Nitoflor DPM are intended, which block moisture from inside the premises. The material penetrates into the micropores and capillaries of the concrete upon application, filling them and bonding with the mineral structure. After drying, it forms a continuous polymer film. This film has zero or extremely low permeability to water vapor and water. It physically blocks the path of water rising from the ground or remaining inside the screed, stopping its movement to the surface.

Features of the material

Nitoflor DPM is a two-component solvent-free liquid surface membrane for moisture protection and a means to block residual moisture. After curing, Nitoflor DPM forms a surface membrane with excellent adhesion to damp concrete. Relative humidity levels of up to 98% RH are allowed directly in the substrate. This practice should only be applied if an inspection confirms sufficient stability of the substrate under the construction. Moisture measurements should be carried out according to BS 8203.

Product advantages

Advantage 1

Allows for earlier application of vinyl coverings, carpet and resin-based materials without adhering to the usual drying period of the substrate.

Advantage 2

Provides an alternative priming system for moisture-resistant Fosroc resin-based flooring systems.
