Carbonation of concrete
Dekguard A Plus is designed to protect atmospheric-exposed reinforced concrete structures, cement bases, and masonry from carbonation, chloride penetration, atmospheric influences, and rain
If a wall is covered with materials that are 'non-breathable' (impermeable dense paints, plasters, or films), moisture that naturally passes through the wall from the interior cannot escape outside and accumulates directly under the coating, causing it to bulge and peel. Dekguard A Plus is a vapor-permeable coating, allowing water vapor to freely escape from inside the structure to the outside, preventing paint peeling and mold formation underneath. Additionally, the material is aimed at stopping the process of carbon dioxide penetration and thereby preventing the carbonation of concrete, protecting the structure from the influence of chloride ions, and also protecting against atmospheric factors such as UV radiation and temperature fluctuations.

Dekguard A Plus is suitable for use on all types of structures, including those in coastal conditions. It is equally suitable for both new and existing structures. Dekguard A Plus is a component of the Renderoc concrete repair system from Fosroc. Dekguard A Plus complies with principles 1.3, 2.2, and 8.2 as defined by BS EN 1504-2.
Dekguard A Plus is an advanced single-component water-based acrylic pigmented protective coating that provides exceptional resistance to carbon dioxide, chloride ions, UV radiation, and rain. After application, the passage of water and water pollutants is blocked; however, since the coating is vapor-permeable, the passage of water vapor remains possible. Dekguard A Plus is available in a wide range of colors, ready for immediate use on site.
Specification
The protective and decorative coating must be Dekguard A Plus, a single-component water-based acrylic coating that meets the requirements of BS EN 1504-2, principles 1.3, 2.2, and 8.2. The total dry film thickness must be at least 150 microns and must provide resistance to carbon dioxide diffusion equivalent to at least 75 meters of air. It must have a water vapor transmission rate of class 1 and a liquid water transmission rate of <0.1 kg/(m²·h^0.5). When tested according to EN-ISO 11925-2 and EN 13823 methods, it must achieve a fire safety rating of Euroclass B s1 d0.
Advantage 1
Excellent barrier against carbon dioxide, chloride ions, oxygen, and water
Advantage 2
Allows water vapor to escape from the structure (vapor permeability)
Advantage 3
High resistance to prolonged weathering and durability in any climatic conditions
Advantage 4
Water-based
Advantage 5
Wide range of decorative colors
